Evolution - Story of each one of us - Part 1

Evolution – Story of each one of us.

With the unexpectedly great response for my previous post and with the reviews I got for it, I gathered some courage to write up my next post. That is the current one which you are reading. I want to thank you all for your support. With the help of unanimous feedback on the way evolution is explained in “Hope- Key for tomorrow”, I have decided to write up a detailed explanation of evolution and its wonders.

Since the facts are little dry, we will try to see the entire process in the Point of View of two characters, Bob and Ally. Both of them belong to a far future where Time travel is possible with the help of continuous research of our current and next generations. Bob and Ally are given an assignment, to write a summary on the evolution process for their final year. Bob who is the classmate of Ally, is trying very hard to impress her since their first meet. He has decided to take this opportunity to win her heart. He talks with his uncle, who works in a Time machine company, to make an arrangement for them to travel to the past and come back. His uncle, who refuses at first saying it is very dangerous, somehow accepts (for the sake of our story to proceed). His uncle advised him a lot. He instructed him adequately on the working of the machine and also asks him to sign in a document stating his Uncle is not responsible in any case of danger to him.

Throughout all the thousands of year which passed from now, lots and lots of things changed in their time. Grammar of many languages changed. New words were introduced to define the future events. For example, in our current century, if we need to say a person will die in future, we have to say “she dies in future”. But since there the time travel is possible, including those two words often, was considered hindrance. To overcome this, they introduced a modifier “en”. So all we have to say is “she dieen”. That is equivalent of saying “Dude, in future she is dead man, I saw that with my own eyes”. With all these amazing changes, there were also few things which did not change at all. We still “eateen” with hands, we “woreen” t-shirts and jean, we still snoreen, we still didn’t “readen” terms and conditions. And so did Bob. Except for a set of three points, which were explained as “Golden three” by his Uncle bill; whatever he said, he just scrolled down. Those three golden points from Bill are as follows:

1) “Bob, listen, when you go to any place through this machine, try not to make an impression. This is because of a basic concept in time travel. Time and Space are like two threads which are interwoven to form a cloth. All the planets rest on this cloth. If you make an impression you are basically disturbing the cloth. And the disturbance will travel like a wave and surely hit the current timeline also. This can result in any kind of change on this world which we are living now. So make sure you do not leave any kind of mark in any of the place or time.”

2) “The second point is Bob; don’t try to travel to the future. Knowing the future destroys a lot of things in life Bob. I know one of my friends, who went to future, only to see that his wife is going to die in a car crash. He came back, acted like mad and tried to avoid the accident by not letting her go out of home on that day. Only to see her die before his own eyes in their home. She died because of heart failure. It only gave him a great deal of pain Bob. One of my favorite heroes, who acted some thousands of years ago, told this dialogue in a movie, *If you know the death date, your living time will be hell*. You should see those vintage movies Bob. Anyways it is always better not to go to the future. ALWAYS.

3) “The last but not the least point is, if by any chance you and the person who is travelling with you are going to die, may god forbid, destroy this machine by clicking this button. No chance, not by any chance, this machine should go to any hand. It doesn’t matter whether it is a good hand or bad hand. It just cannot go Bob. We are more civilized Bob; we have a knowledge which they have not even started to comprehend. We have evolved from that point. There is no saying what will happen to any point of time if they come to know what can be achieved with the machine. So please make sure that no one comes in contact with this machine. Destroy before you die.”

These instructions, especially the last one, made Bob swallow a huge gulp. He was scared, but still he was not ready to back down. The unclear reason behind the attraction towards the girl and the adrenaline kick of the adventure overtook the logical decision of not taking such risk. Bob took few practical classes with Bill and they went to nearby past quite a few times. Bill also explained Bob that, when a time machine travels through a timeline, it leaves a trace of time disturbance and that helps and tracking back the time machine and the user incase if he/she is caught breaking any one of the golden rules. The punishment for such a crime is very horrible. The convict has to spend his remaining time in a place which is very far from any of the human colony. There is no escape from such a place and he has to only spend his time in solitude. One thing was clear to Bob. Even if someone is going to pay trillion rupees, he is not going to even think of breaking the golden rules. In a course of a week, Bob became an expert handler of the machine and was highly appreciated by his uncle. He also convinced Ally, to accompany him into the past to finish their assignment with a real time experience. But she also requested Bob to keep this a secret, since her parents will freak out on the knowledge of this act. Ally is a typical bookworm girl. She is not very enthusiastic for social gatherings and obviously one of the top performers in class. She was very interested in such an experience. She was also aware of Bob’s intentions but did not react in any way. She secretly enjoyed this mystique attention she received from Bob.

The day came for their travel and Bob clearly explained Ally of all the complications which will happen if she didn’t follow the basic rules. Bill also advised Ally and asked her to take care of his nephew. This was the first time Ally saw the machine and she was totally dumbstruck. The machine was looking like huge saucer placed one over the other in an inverted manner. There were led lights which sent signals back to Bill’s station, since only light is the easiest and cheapest means of communication across time. Bill and Bob checked the machine’s status and the power level. The machine used a new element called combuton, for combustion, which was brought from a distant planet. The new element’s atomic number is 129 and is the lightest of all the elements known to man. A pinch of the element could burn straight for ten days. Ally curiously went into the ship and found various controls which were all Niburuic and Alkasic to her (Languages which were developed for communication in one of the planets where humans settled. These languages used less air, since oxygen was in less percentage in those planets and hence very strange to native earthlings). She noticed that their current time was displayed in a large frame at one corner of the ship. She went out to ask for explanation about the ship to Bob and found him dressing up the time traveler’s dress. The dress was made compulsory for the time travelers who travel to periods more than thousand years, to avoid making an impression on the people who live at that time. There were various varieties of Dresses, and the one they were supposed to wear, is made of jet green cloth. Two antennas like horns were attached to their head and eyes were pitch black, huge and shaped like huge eggs. Ally was also asked wear a similar costume. This is what we currently call as aliens and the time machine is called as flying saucer, or notoriously known as UFO.

Bob and Ally got into the machine and he explained the basic functionalities of the ship. He instructed her about the destruction button. She gave the same gulping noise, and Bob suppressed the urge to pinch her saying “same pinch” with super human effort. With all the explanations and “Bye Byes over, Bob started the machine. Engine sprang to life with a buzzing sound and the machine started to fly like a disc thrown by athletes. Ally became extremely sick because of the flight and sat quietly beside Bob. Bob saw the clock ticking, turned towards Ally and gave a smile of assurance. He set the time to the earliest as possible. That is right after the big bang. Time travel further to Big Bang is technically impossible at that point of time, since the space and time relationship was completely different.

Big bang was the particular point in time where two huge stars collided and out of which thousands of galaxies sprang out. But before Big bang, everything was locked inside the two stars and nothing was outside them. The space as we see now was like a yolk inside an egg. If we are germs which live in the yolk, before Big bang era was something outside the egg shell. We have no related data and even in the farthest future, human brain was not evolved to comprehend the mystery behind it.

Bob set target as the time and date to the point right after Big bang. He turned towards Ally again and said, “Welcome to the past” and throttled the engine. Ally was able to see the sky only for that second and after that everything went to dark. Suddenly there were light streaks all over the place. It was so thick as if it is a wall and there were thin lines of darkness which said, “No young lady, this is illusion”. Suddenly Ally felt like puking all over the place. She controlled and seeing her state, Bob came and hugged her close. He was secretly so happy; he thought this second should last forever. It is not impossible for him. All he has to do is, set this as the target time and space and keep the engine on loop to reach this target. But to think practically, if this stage continues, probably she really would puke all over the place. He held her tight and asked her to open her eyes. Afraid of what horror she might do to the ship, she refused. But Bob insisted and she opened her eyes. This time, the light streaks closed around the ship like a tunnel and she suddenly felt like she is in a water slide. She noticed she is almost in an anti-gravity state. She was flying and so was Bob. This relaxed her a little and she went near the window to observe the beauty of tunnel. When she noticed, she saw that the led signals were actually mixing with the tunnels like a color drop mixing in the water. She was amazed by the pure beauty and sheer majestic view of space. The awe took her a while to understand that this is Worm hole. This is the moment of her lifetime which may never be the same, even if she travels again. She turned towards Bob and thanked him with a two second long blink and two drops of tears. He checked the time, and turned towards her again. “It’s almost time”, he said. Bob came near Ally, equally curious as she was. He closed her eyes and said “Wait for it”. The Machine started ticking its count down as it almost reached the target. It announced “Target arrival in Five”, “Four”,”Three”,”Two”,”One”. The machine started slowing down gradually.

Bob let out a quiet breathe as he watched the scene unfold in front of him and he forgot to suck in air again. He removed his hands slowly from Ally’s eyes. What Ally saw was beyond her belief. She sucked in twice as much as air which Bob sucked in. Bob playfully pointed, “Ally, we have only a limited supply of oxygen in the ship, don’t finish everything in one gulp”. Ally laughed, but she was not able to explain her feelings. It is beyond capacity for any normal human to describe what they saw. They were very far from the exact position of big bang for safety. All they could see was colors. That is the point when light has started to lurk into the newly born space. Light was testing space with all the possible combinations of colors which it contained inside itself. It was like when you suddenly open a palate of paint box and threw it into empty space and it started to mix violently to produce unseen colors. They had to invent new names for these colors and they started naming after themselves. Ally started calling all the new pink and white shades as Ally-I, Ally-II, Ally-III and so on. Bob was quietly observing her childish nature come into play when she was completely impressed by what she saw. They were laughing for some time, playing for some time, quietly observing the cosmos for some time and seeing each other for the rest of the time. Like this, swiftly, two hours passed. Bob understood the danger of running out of oxygen and time if this continues and urged Ally to take photos and notes of the extraordinary event.

Ally took few photos for reference and for her surprise; none of the photos registered the big bang scene. All it captured was the ship and few stars. Bob was highly confused, but with a quiet thought of five minutes, she explained the amazing phenomenon to him. “The sight we see now is the light which has passed this area, in this particular time. That light has already passed now and all we see is the past. It is more like a recording and not the current event. Simply put, we are seeing a moving photo. For a scene to be captured in a camera, light beam has to hit the canvas behind the shutter, and leave its trace on it. But now, the only light which is travelling is the light which is generated by the led inside this machine. All the light which burst out and formed these lovely colors has probably left that place with amazing speed and moved really far from here. That is, the person whom we are trying to click is not even there”.

Bob was staring at her in amazement. “Then how come we are seeing it?” Ally explained, “That is because, we have kept our eyes open for quite a long time. If we keep the camera shutter open like that, camera will also be able to register the weak light traces which are registered in the time and space thread”. Bob found his heart fighting to get out of his rib cage and hug Ally out of admiration and love. Perhaps understanding this, Ally gave a wink and said, “I am not as impressive as much as you are”. Bob thought of pressing the destruction button, thinking that he is dead. Suddenly big bang seemed like a small pin drop for him. There were colors all around her and with great trouble he cleared those colors to see that she is taking notes of the Event. Bob understood that to make this image permanent, he has to work seriously hard. He went near her and started to observe the notes attentively. Without being aware, they registered the universe’s first love.
